A new attribute, such as material, added to products for filtering

Create a shop-wide attribute with its values and set it on existing products, so it shows on the product page and a filter can use it.

The prompt

I want customers to filter [the category Bags] by material. Create the attribute [Material] with the values [leather, canvas, synthetic] if it doesn't exist. Then set it on each product of the category from this list: [product and material]. It should show on the product page but not create variations. Keep each product's existing attributes. Show me the plan and wait for my approval.

If SAR is already in your AI app, this is enough:

Already connected?

Create the attribute [Material] with [values] and set it on the products of [category] from my list.

What happens

  1. The AI app reads the shop's attributes and creates the new one with its values. Nothing visitors see changes until products use it.
  2. It exports the category's products with their current attributes.
  3. It sets each product's attributes again, the existing ones plus the new one, shown on the page and not used for variations. A draft changes at once; a product on sale waits for your approval. It can be undone.
  4. A filter block on your shop pages can then offer the new attribute.
