What happens

1. The AI app reads the product in full, and its variations if it has any, and tells you whether stock is managed. Backorders work only on managed stock; if it isn't, it tells you before anything changes.
2. It shows you the change: backorders allowed with a notice to customers, the low-stock amount and the line in the short description.
3. The change waits for your approval in SAR; for a variable product, each variation is its own change. The previous values are kept and can be restored.
4. Customers can then order with stock below zero, and WooCommerce tells them the product is on backorder.

What you get

Orders keep coming in while you wait for stock, and customers know when to expect the product. WooCommerce has no shipping date of its own for backorders, so keep the line in the description up to date and switch backorders off once the stock is in.
