Update your theme and compare the pages before and after

Save how your key pages look, update the theme, then compare each page pixel by pixel with how it looked, so a broken layout is caught at once.

The prompt

There is an update for my theme. Tell me the version I'm on and the one offered, and how old my last backup is. Before updating, save how [pages, e.g. the home page, a product page and the contact page] look on desktop and on mobile. Then update the theme to that version, and compare each page with how it looked before. Tell me plainly what changed, and whether anything looks broken.

Already connected?

If SAR is already in your AI app, this is enough:

Already connected?

Save how [pages] look, update the theme, and show me what changed on each page.

What happens

  1. The AI app lists the theme update with the versions, and checks how old the last good backup is.
  2. It opens each page in a browser and saves its look as a baseline, on desktop and mobile.
  3. The theme update is approved in SAR with your password; it cannot be undone by SAR, which is why the backup comes first.
  4. It opens each page again and compares it with the baseline, with screenshots.
  5. It tells you which pages changed, how, and whether anything looks broken, such as errors or content wider than the screen.
